Suppose you decide to venture further into the cryptocurrency space. In that case, you'll be met with a few obstacles like crypto jargon or slang. But, don't worry! Let's break them down one by one so you don't feel left out!

Common Crypto Jargon

  1. Buy the Dip (BTD) - an expression used to encourage buying the 'dip,' which refers to when a cryptocurrency's price falls
  2. Do Your Own Research (DYOR) - doing due diligence before deciding to purchase crypto
  3. Explain Like I'm 5 (ELI5) - a simple, concise explanation
  4. Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) - the feeling of being "left out" when they see other people gaining profits while they aren't
  5. Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt (FUD) - negative and/or misleading information
  6. HODL - a misspelling of the word "hold." This first originated in an online forum where someone mistyped "hold" as "hodl." Currently, the term is interpreted as an acronym of "Hold On for Dear Life."
  7. REKT - Came from the word "wrecked"; it describes a terrible loss in a trade
  8. When Moon - "when will the price explode upwards?"
  9. GM/GN - Good morning/good night

Congratulations! You now understand some crypto slang. Just like you, a lot of famous personalities have entered the Bitcoin space as well. Let's get to know those people, shall we?

Famous Bitcoin Personalities

Michael Saylor

Saylor is one of the most prominent names in the cryptocurrency space. Michael Saylor's company called MicroStrategy was known for accumulating bitcoin in August 2020. For others, this bold move was a significant event that opened the floodgates for other companies to follow suit and purchase bitcoin.

Elon Musk

Musk is the richest man in the world in 2021 and a spoken Bitcoin proponent. His technology company, Tesla, bought $1.5 billion in bitcoin in February 2021. This is by far one of the most significant Bitcoin investments to date.

Tesla had also briefly accepted bitcoin as a mode of payment up until they ran into some issues concerning Bitcoin's environmental usage.

Winklevoss Twins

Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss are known for their lawsuit against Mark Zuckerberg, the man behind Facebook. After winning the case, they invested a portion of the money won into Bitcoin back in 2012.

As a result of that move, the twins quickly got a spot on Forbes' list of billionaires. The twins currently own one of the top cryptocurrency exchanges called Gemini.

Mark Cuban

The Dallas Mavericks owner and famous Shark Tank investor, Mark Cuban, is a firm cryptocurrency believer. Bitcoin for him is a “safe haven” in the cryptocurrency space, alongside Ethereum. Cuban even goes further and says that bitcoin is a better store of value versus gold.

He is also famous for his acceptance of the meme cryptocurrency, Dogecoin. Last March, the Dallas Mavericks announced that they will be accepting Dogecoin ($DOGE) for tickets and merchandise.

‍Snoop Dogg

An American rapper, songwriter, media personality, actor, and businessman, Snoop Dogg invested in Bitcoin as early as 2012 and sold his first reggae music album, Reincarnated, back in 2013 for 0.3 bitcoin.

Snoop Dogg has also recently drawn attention in the cryptocurrency space when the rapper revealed he is a long-time huge NFT collector.
